Details

George Gemer endured the unimaginable. He fought in WWII, then was captured and held as a prisoner of war for five brutal years. Though his spirit remained unbroken, the war stole something precious - his dream of competing in the Olympics. After his release, George found refuge in Lethbridge, Canada, where he devoted his life to coaching track and field, helping young athletes chase the goal he never could. Over decades, he influenced thousands, leaving a lasting mark on Canadian athletics. Now, at 97 years old, George chases his track and field dreams once again. Surrounded by those he inspired, he steps back onto the field and proves that the human spirit never truly ages.
